]]> E.E. Bagleys famous march was written in the early 1900s and has since become a standard in band repertoire. This edition brings the piece to the piano in an inventive manner capturing the patriotic spirit of the original band version. This arrangement was written in 2002.

]]> James Weldon Johnson’s poem was set to music by his brother John Rosamond Johson. The resulting work became popular and was named by the NAACP as the “Black national anthem” in 1919. The song has remained popular ever since.

This arrangement reharmonizes the piece with a rich accompaniment . The piano part can even stand on it’s own as a piece for solo piano or preferably the melody can be handled by a solo vocalist or several vocalists. The diverse sentiment of the original song is maintained.
